About the European appaloosa Foundation
Historically, the European Appaloosa Championship has been organized every 2 years by a volunteer national APHC association or even by individuals. It has been organized in various places and countries. This way to proceed has its pros and cons.
This year, following a proposal from Holland, the European Appaloosa Foundation (not the bloodline but the charitable organization!) has been launched in order to mitigate the cons as much as possible.
After many months of work, the required deed has been passed in front of a Dutch notary few day ago. The European Appaloosa Foundation (the “EAF”) is now a reality!
Members of the EAF are national associations, each represented by one individual having 1 vote, and a board of 3 directors to run the Foundation. Currently, the 3 directors are Francesco Auriemma from Italy (President), Christina Ottersbach from Germany (Treasurer) and Marie Bentley from Belgium (Secretary). The EAF is open to any national APHC association. As from now, Holland, Germany, France, Italy, Czech Republic and Switzerland are members of the EAF. And any volunteer that would like to be involved or to help is welcomed. The team is really motivated. We believe in it!

The project was launched before the Covid-19 crisis. The idea is to federate the national APHC associations in order to work together toward the same goals: a greater organization and a stronger funding for the annual European Championship via the pooling of the risks.
The main objective of the EAF is the sustainability of the European Appaloosa Championship. For that purpose, the EAF will work to revitalize the APHC in Europe and to make the European Championship more attractive for horse owners and trainers.
The EAF believes that a stronger European Appaloosa Championship will help the promotion of the appaloosa breed in Europe and as a result, should help the European appaloosa breeders. The EAF believes it should stimulate appaloosa owner to show their appaloosa and indirectly, help the national associations (i.e., increase of the membership, foal birth, participation to national shows, …).
